Today, LPG is the only really practical alternative fuel available. And it will be the only really practical alternative fuel available tomorrow. That won't always be the case, but for the next few years LPG has no meaningful competition. With an infrastucture of over 1500 filling stations nationwide and the fact that LPG cars are all dual-fuel – so you can always flick back to petrol if you're a mile or two short of a filling station. As we will repeat often throughout our website, LPG is Cleaner, Greener and Cheaper, There is plenty of it, (it's a waste product, we used to burn it off) you pay less road tax and you pay whole lot less fuel duty to the chancellor.
The improvements on car emissions are nothing short of impressive. Vehicles converted to run on LPG emit about 20 percent less carbon dioxide than petrol cars. Truly a Green Car.
Even more astonishing is the fact it would take 20 LPG-fuelled cars to match the nitrous oxide emissions of one diesel car – and 120 LPG cars to match the level of one diesel car's particulates.
Many LPG cars are London Congestion Charge Exempt for the time being too (up to January 2010 unless there is a change in mayor of course). You can find out more about london congestion charges on the Transport for London website.
We can prove all this, and so can you.
Quote from the "Boost" LPGA website written by Richard Hammond 3 years ago.
Why should you get a vehicle that runs on LPG?
Well, here are three good reasons...
It's Cheaper...
It's Greener...
It's Cleaner...
Cheaper,
Fuel prices change all the time, see the headline fuel price report from the AA today. But you know how much petrol or diesel is don't you? Well LPG should be about half the price of that. See the Chancellors long term commitment to LPG prices.
The price of LPG makes it attractive, however it may be half price but you don't automatically halve your running costs. Here's how we work out the economy for a particular car. Lets say your typical family saloon does 36 miles to the gallon on petrol, if this car was to run on LPG it would be 15% less efficient volumetrically(LPG is less dense than petriol) so it would the do 30 mile per gallon of LPG. However, LPG costs half as much as petrol. Work out your cost per mile at the current price, or use our Calculator to do it for you.
Cleaner and Greener
Another Quote from the Boost LPG website,
LPG is regarded as one of the cleanest fuels in the market because its simple chemical composition means it is a very clean burning fuel.
This is important for the quality of the air you breathe. Particulates accumulate in your lungs and an LPG engine was shown in recent European tests to emit substantially fewer particulates than a diesel one. And the
emission of nitrogen oxide – which can damage your lungs and health – was demonstrated to be 20 times less in an LPG vehicle than in a diesel. Not only can you save money, you may even help to save the
planet by converting. The main pollutant linked to the greenhouse effect is carbon dioxide (CO2) and recent extensive tests showed that CO2 emissions are 20% less when compared to petrol and
nearly 2% less than diesel.
Plus an LPG-fuelled engine is about 50% quieter than a diesel one.
