Frequently Asked Questions
Can I part exchange my current car?
Yes, all we ask for is an accurate description including MOT, service history, tyre depth, bodywork condition, owners etc and we’ll be happy to provide you with a part exchange price. We rely on over 50 years motor trade experience and the relationships we’ve made to get you the best price possible but please remember we don’t offer a free valuation service. You can get an idea of price from the many online websites like www.webuyanycar.com, www.wewillbuyyourcar.com.

Can I have a test drive? Yes, have a read of our “how we do business” pages. How do I take delivery of my new car?
You can either visit us at our dealership in Grimsby but most of our customers choose the delivery option. One of our team of delivery drivers will deliver the car to your home or place of work at a time and date convenient to you. They are professionally trained to give you a complete handover experience which will include the explanation and demonstration of all the features of the car.

How safe is LPG?
LPG autogas is a safe, or arguably safer than petrol or diesel. A Conventional engine is far more prone to leaks and corrosion. LPG is fully contained under pressure in solid tanks in a sealed system and therefore is as safe is not safer. Recent studies have demonstrated that the risk of tank rupture is greater for petrol than for LPG. It's strongly advised that you buy a car from a LPGA approved dealer so that the vehicle is properly handled. As in any technical procedure, you should always use an expert.
Many years of operation worldwide have demonstrated the integrity and safety of LPG vehicle tanks. LPG cars are everywhere – many taxis, busses, police cars, ambulances, post office and local authority vehicles are LPG, even the Queen and the Prime Minister are driven in LPG vehicles.

What happens if I get a puncture?
Most LPG vehicles have the LPG tank in the spare wheel well of the car, so as not to reduce boot space. If you get a puncture then you use the repair foam supplied with the car. This inflates the tyre and seals the puncture until you can get it properly repaired. This is only a temporary repair so will need repairing as you normally would.

What happens if I run out of LPG?
You still have the full petrol tank. All LPG cars are dual fuel so when the car runs out of LPG it automatically switch’s to petrol and causes no damage to your engine. The car when cold will start on petrol and then quickly switch over when the engine is warm. It is therefore important to have a reserve of petrol.

Where can I buy LPG autogas?
There are currently 1600 fuel stations selling LPG, which is growing with the commitment of the large supermarket chains agreeing to supply LPG. You can find your local stations on our “refuelling map” page.

How much money can I save?
LPG will save you up to 50% on the equivalent petrol model depending on engine size and the local cost of LPG and petrol.

If it’s so good why isn’t everybody driving an LPG car?
A question we find hard to answer. The main reasons are lack of knowledge and restricted supply of vehicles available, only 2% of cars on the UK’s road are LPG. This makes locating a used LPG car fairly hard and your local dealer will have limited knowledge of LPG so won’t promote their usage. Also there are the scare monger stories that we’ve all read, most are ill researched and incorrect and much internet information relates to the older, cheaper single point systems that we will no longer fit due to reliability problems when fitted to a modern day ECU controlled engine.

Do I lose any power?
Yes, but hardly noticeable somewhere around 5% depending on the actual car. We been fitting and selling LPG cars for over 10 years and not one customer has ever complained about lack of power.

How much road tax do I pay?
Driving a LPG car will get you a reduction in your road tax of up to £20. The lowest Co2 emitting LPG cars we sell will have road tax from only £10 a year.

What are the main advantages of LPG?
Not only is LPG an environmentally friendly fuel as it produces fewer harmful pollutants and less noise, but on average it's half the price of regular unleaded petrol. With other possible benefits such as lower road tax, 100% and reduced engine wear, overall running costs for LPG vehicles are up to 40% less.

Can all cars be converted to LPG?
Only petrol cars can be converted and in theory any petrol car can be converted but in practice some engines do suffer due to the higher temperatures created when using LPG. Rest assured ThinkGreenCars don’t sell problem vehicles.

Are the cars sold with a Warranty?
Every car is sold with a minimum 3 month comprehensive nationwide warranty and can be extended up to 24 months.
