History

It all started about 30 years ago when the then young Richard Lewis started out in the Motor Trade. Many years and many cars later, in the mid 90's he started to become concerned with the impact on the planet all these petrol drinking vehicles he was selling, So in an effort to redress the balance he started investigating what the alternatives were. The one that stood out was Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG). It was very inexpensive, it was produced as a by product in the manufacture of petrol, there was plenty of it and best of all it was better for the environment. LPG Cars and LPG vans would not only produce less carbon dioxide than petrol, they produced far less noxious gases and particulates. Good news all round.

In the early days it was a steep learning curve, LPG gas conversions were fairly primitive and the tanks took up loads of space in the boot of the customer's car but they did work. So the company began doing conversions at their Railway Street Grimsby location. They became members of the newly formed Liquid Petroleum Gas Association LPGA, the government instigated quality assurance body and the technicians underwent installation training.

That was over 10 years ago, the company, then called Automotive Solutions or AMS Limited (Grimsby) still employs the same technicians that were trained all those years ago but now they have accumulated a vast wealth of experience and knowledge. The modern LPG system is a distant relative of the original single point system and now use multi point injection technology with sequential operation There is a completely separate LPG ECU and the tanks are more efficient and usually terroidal (doughnut shaped) and fit in the spare wheel well, so there is no loss of boot space if a puncture re inflation system is carried instead of a spare wheel.

One of the biggest developments is that Thinkgreen has become the largest stockist of Low Emission cars, Alternative fuel cars Dual Fuel cars and Bi fuel cars. The company operates pretty much exclusively on the internet due to the distance separating them from most of their customers, although customers are very welcome to visit the premises that the company have inhabited for all this time.

Very happy with service from all your staff. Buying a car was made very simple with no stress at all. ... - Mr A Mitchell
